25 APRIL, 2010 - OFFICIAL: SPRING IS HERE
Out again for a spin and a bit of walking... Spring has arrived with a vengeance and its wonderful. Outside my window is a tree breaking into leaf - the most gorgeous baby green. Another week or so and I guess the bluebells will be out too. Anyway, we have been out in the northern fells above Bassenthwaite. Definitely one of my favourite parts of the Lake District. Especially on a sunny day when you escape the crowds, and the only company are birds singing, and the odd person out walking a dog

Otherwise, I'm busy at the moment ... wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses and some beautiful antique lace work with. Also working on ready to wear samples for a special project but more of that another day!

You never know what you are going to come across when you hit the road in the lakes. It was a busy Saturday, and we thought we would slip over Honister pass to avoid the crowds ... and for the best ice cream in the Lake District (Buttermere Ayrshires - check out the cherry - orgasmic! Full of real fruit!),
Anyway, back to the story: we just reached the bottom of the pass fom Borrowdale when we came across a woman in the middle of the road stopping traffic. The pass was closed - and the reason was obvious from the plume of black smoke rising from the trees. A couple had just started to ascend the pass in a beautiful red sports car when they noticed a flame. Fortunately the roof ws open so they were able to jump clear before the whole car erupted in a fireball.
It just shows, it doesn't matter how much you pay for your car, you can't necessarily rely on it. The car was a 12 year old Ferrari Spyder - a replacement on Ebay would set you back £ 50,000.00 ... think I'll stick to our battered old polo!
Thankfully the fire brigade arrived quickly before the fire spread onto the fell as it had already ignited some of the dry bracken.
What fabu-tastic news - my team has been promoted to Premier League...back where we belong. Chelsea watch out. Joking, of course! Then again, why not? There were more then 48,000 loyal Newcastle United fans packed into St James' Park, what a night ...bonkers. No I wasn’t there although I really wished I was - sometimes I'm scared of bringing bad luck to my team. Most of the matches I went to last season they lost - not a good feeling. Or perhaps that was the 2009 curse! Anyway, I’m over the moon, ....BRILLIANT!!!!

Spring is here yet again! Where is the time going? It feels like only yesterday it was Christmas. My mum in law said to me that the older you get the faster it will go, but the secret is to make it worthwhile. Be happy and enjoy every second under the sun. I will always remember her words... so we did. By 9 in the morning on Easter Sunday we were out. Didn’t care if it was raining, thunderstorms or snow out there I just wanted outdoors and fresh air. By 10:30 the sun was shining on and off, and we were in Kirkby Stephen for the Vintage Vehicle Rally.
Newcastle bus - anything familiar? Inspiration for that infamous away kit perhaps?
So, armed with cameras, extra cards and raincoats we attacked bus after bus. What a day... one thing I must say is that there were certainly some handsome, beautifully preserved buses.
You couldn’t imagine that somebody would like to kill such creatures ... but guess what, they do. Apparently poaching has increased during the recession. We’ve been stopped whilst out with friends of ours by a Wildlife Crime Officer who asked us to keep our eyes open as they had received reports that poachers are around. I really really hate humans sometimes... ... but it's reassuring to know that there is always somebody on guard, no more than fifteen minutes away.

Out of all the 1st of April jokes I liked this one the most. Next season's West Ham home shirt will have shocking pink trim added to the traditional claret and red and will carry Ann Summers branding. Can you imagine going to a match and seeing the blokes with AS on they shirts? I’m not so sure they would be able to keep their minds on the game, well perhaps a different game - LOL!

Another rumour in fashion circles has it that Chanel’s creative director. Karl Lagerfeld, is to retire. It first appeared in March, but it seems strange for this rumour to surface again around the 1st of April. Hmmm I wonder why?

News News News - NEW 'BUTiQ' WILL GO ONLINE SOON - News News News
I am still at the final design stage but will soon be launching my online boutique - 'BUTiQ'. I will have prêt-à-porter (ready to wear) and bespoke, avant-garde sections. I’m still working on my new prêt-à-porter lines, starting with some designs derived from my pevious couture collections. Each line will be limited to thirty or less outfits, all manufactured locally. One thing I would like to highlight is that I don't follow trends. My 'BUTiQ' will be for people who desire to be different, and have an individual and personal approach to clothes. Of course I keep an eye on what’s going on in the fashion world but not in the 'paranoia' way...more a practical approach. I love making clothes but again I will always have a practical approach as I believe that the clothes make the person, not the person the clothes, if you know what I mean! Anyway, watch this space!

Spectrum in Four Seasons
at Leeds United Spring Wedding Show
This was the first outing for Firecracker, the latest addition to my Spectrum in Four Seasons Collection. This is a stunning cocktail dress made from a dazzling fuschia silk dupion, with bow and details in silver taffeta shot with black. The colour really is stunning. The inspiration was 5th November - Bonfire Night and all those amazing colours that light up the autumn night sky.
